May 11,2009 US Postal Service Update

TASK 1
The first task is accomplished by performing your program update on your ShipRite server.  If you have a network, make sure ShipRite is closed on all stations. If you have only computer, that will be called "Server."
To PERFORM THE 2009 May11th USPS RATE UPDATE IN SHIPRITE:

  1. Backup your ShipRite™ database. (See FAQs <http://shipritesoftware.com/support/faq.shtml>  if you do not have a backup routine). Do NOT update until you have performed a backup.
  2. Start ShipRite on your ShipRite server from the main menu.
  3. Go to "END OF DAY (EOD)" and then click on "PROGRAM UPDATE" in the top, right corner. When it is finished downloading, a "CLOSE" dialog box will appear.
  4. Choose to "CLOSE" the program.
  5. Exit then restart the program. Answer "YES" in the dialog box to load the update.
  6. Click on the "INSTALL" in the dialog box. The update will now install.
  7. After the files have finished extracting and the installation is complete, restart the program. You have now completed the update.
If you experience difficulties trying to update using EOD, try this method before contacting support:
  1. Close Shiprite program on all your computers before performing this update.
  2. http://support.shipritesoftware.com/SR_Updates/SRUpdate10_8_52.exe
  3. Click <Run> button when prompted.
  4. Follow instructions on the screen.
TASK #1 is NOW COMPLETE.

TASK 2
Setup First Class markups
This update will change only your First Class mail COST, it will not update your First Class retail prices, those will stay the same as before the update. You should update your retail prices accordingly in order to keep your markup margins the same.

IF YOU ARE SELLING FIRST CLASS MAIL AT COST WITHOUT MARKUPS, THEN YOU HAVE TO ADJUST YOU RETAIL PRICES TO MATCH THE NEW RATES, OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE LOOSING MONEY !!!

To change the first class mail markups go to POS -> MailMaster. In the MailMaster click on the Envelope Icon on the top of your screen.  The costs are already setup for you and you cannot change those. To change the retail prices (marked in Red) just click in the cell you want to change and start typing your new price.

TASK 3
Update Accessorial Charges
To update your accessorial charges go to Actions -> Table Management -> Master Shipping Table -> USPS.
Certified Mail  -               $2.80
Return Receipt -              $2.30
Delivery Confirmation - $0.70  (note: this price does not apply if you are using Endicia or stamps.com with electronic delivery confirmation)
Insurance: Insurance will be updated automatically with the rest of the rates. By default, your USPS Insurance markups will be raised at 30%.
If you have Endicia or Stamps.com insurance then you don’t use Postal Insurance, so you can skip the following insurance markups adjustment instructions.
If you need to adjust your markups (to let’s say 35%) then do the following:
1.      at Main screen menu click on Actions -> Table Management -> Master Shipping Table

2.      select USPS carrier in the Carrier Selection drop-down box

3.      click on Postal Insurance tab-page to select “Domestic Insurance”

4.      type over the “Sell Price Markup” with value of 35%

5.      click on <Markup Sell Prices> button to update the change

6.      a message box will appear (see image below)

7.      click <Yes> to markup all Domestic Insurance to 35%

8.      repeat steps 1 through 7 to all other Postal Insurance types from the list.
