INSTRUCTIONS TO PERFORM MANDATED TASKS
TASK #1

The first task is accomplished by performing your program update on your ShipRite server.  If you have a network, make sure ShipRite is closed on all stations. If you have only only computer, that will be called "Server."

To PERFORM THE 2009 USPS RATE UPDATE IN SHIPRITE:

  1. Backup your ShipRite™ database. (See FAQs if you do not have a backup routine). Do NOT update until you have performed a backup.
  2. Start ShipRite on your ShipRite server from the main menu.
  3. Go to "END OF DAY (EOD)" and then click on "PROGRAM UPDATE" in the top, right corner. When it is finished downloading, a "CLOSE" dialog box will appear.
  4. Choose to "CLOSE" the program.
  5. Exit then restart the program. Answer "YES" in the dialog box to load the update.
  6. Click on the "INSTALL" in the dialog box. The update will now install.
  7. After the files have finished extracting and the installation is complete, restart the program. You have now completed the update.

If you experience difficulties trying to update using EOD, try this method before contacting support:

  1. Close Shiprite program on all your computers before performing this update.
  2. Download the Update:
  3. Click <Run> button when prompted.
  4. Follow instructions on the screen.

TASK #1 is NOW COMPLETE.

TASK #2

Verify that you have the new rates with the updated 2009 rate chart.  This verification will come in 2 parts.

Verify the shipping rates are correct.
Verify the Accessorial Revenue charges are correct.

TASK #2 IS NOW COMPLETE.

TASK #3

To Update FedEx® and UPS® Accessorial Charges:

Open ShipRite.
Go to ACTIONS>TABLE MANAGEMENT>MASTER SHIPPING TABLES.
Select each FedEx® and UPS® service and update the COST as seen below. (NOTE: Make sure your RETAIL follows your pricing policy.)

TASK #3 IS NOW COMPLETE

TASK #4

Integrate ShipRite with FedEx's® new Web Services

Once the update is installed, start up ShipRite and you will get a pop-up message on how to enable the new FedEx® services.

You will need to re-register your FedEx® account number. To do that, go Setup > General Setup Options > Carrier Setup > FedEx > 'Setup-Register with FedEx®. In order for the FedEx® Web Services to be enabled and the account number to register properly, 3 different things need to be installed:

  • FedEx® Web Services (needs to be installed on every computer, including workstations.)If it does not run automatically, follow this link on each computer.
  • MS Interop Form
  • Microsoft .NET framework

Your computer might have some of these installed already. ShipRite will know which ones are not installed, and when you try to register your account shiprite will automatically prompt you to install the ones that are not there. Follow the instructions on the screen to install those Utilities.

After each one of those utilities is installed you will have to go back into Setup > General Setup Options > Carrier Setup > FedEx > 'Setup-Register with FedEx®and try registering the account again.

Your FedEx® is all set up once you get the User Key and Meter number.

If your account does not seem to want to register: Try exiting ShipRite completely, then restarting it, then try to register again. If it still does not work restart the computer and try again. If that does not work either, then fill out a support ticket here: http://support.shiprite.net/ and let us know the exact error you are getting.

TASK #4 IS NOW COMPLETE

TASK #5

UPDATE THE USPS Flat Rate Prices

Go to Actions -> Table Management -> Master Shipping Table -> USPS.
Update the Base Costs for the following Package Types with the amounts in the table.

Packaging

Base Cost

USPS FlatR Env Exp

$ 16.63

USPS FlatR Env Pri

$ 4.80

USPS FlatR Box

$ 9.85

NOTE: This update does NOT support the USPS Small Flat Rate Box. We will however add it in the near future.

Stamp.com users:

To update your Stamps.com just log into Stamps.com and you will be force to update.

Endicia users:

Once the new USPS rates take effect on January 18th, your InstaPostage program will ask you to update. The new update will remove InstaPostage from your computer and install a new program called “DYMO Printable Postage” which has the same functionality as InstaPostage.  With this update ShipRite will know which one is installed and the Mailmaster will print to that particular software.

If you experience any problems printing stamps from the MailMaster after installing the ‘DYMO Printable Postage’ program, go to:

Setup -> General Setup Options ->Carrier Setup -> USPS -> SETUP-Endicia -> PrintablePostage.exe

Make sure the correct path to the "Printable Postage.exe" file is showing in there. If it’s not, click on browse and find that file.

The default for that path should be “C:\Program Files\Endicia\DYMO Printable Postage\Printable Postage.exe,” unless you installed the Printable Postage somewhere else.

TASK #5 is NOW COMPLETE.

TASK #6

VERIFY USPS RATES

To check if you have updated correctly and have the new 2009 rates properly installed, go to: Actions > Table Management > Service Tables. Compare the tables for each of the services with the following:

Priority Mail (USPS-PRI)
Priority.JPG

Express Mail (USPS-EXPR)

TASK #6 is NOW COMPLETE.

TASK #7

SPEE-DEE CUSTOMERS ONLY: RATES & ZONES

This update also includes the 2009 SpeeDee rates and zones. Shiprite now supports SpeeDee shipping up to 150lb.

To load the new SpeeDee changes, close ShipRite on all computers and on the SERVER run the utility from this link:

http://support.shipritesoftware.com/SR_Utilities/AddSpeeDee_Utility.exe

Once you run the utility, click on the “Add Spee-Dee Service” button. Running this utility is necessary because SpeeDee has changed their zone structure and your zone files need to be reset.

TASK #7 is NOW COMPLETE.

 TASK #8 Finally, you should always review the release notes on any and all updates we do.
